I tried to reflect the heat of a summer day overlooking the Ashley River from the Lowndes Grove Plantation in Charleston.

The light through the trees intrigued me because of the golden aspect of the afternoon light. I embellished on the cold shadow by using blue for the trees.

The contrast of the lime green cypresses and the red roof behind the large silhouette of the oak and shadows caught my eye. The piece won the merit award at Piccolo Spoleto.

Another piece done from Azalea Park in Summerville. The crepe myrtles had not yet bloomed but the form of the trunks and branches in the morning sun created an interesting painting.
